You are part of our mission to save lives. Your contribution enables us to help those that need it the most — the patients: Give now.
More about The Marrow Foundation
Leadership
Exceptional individuals are providing their leadership, passion and expertise to The Marrow Foundation’s support of the NMDP’s life-saving efforts.
History of helping patientsOur visionary founder, Admiral E. R. Zumwalt Jr. — the U.S. Navy’s youngest four star admiral and later Chief of Naval Operations — recognized the significant financial needs of patients being served by the NMDP when his eldest son, Elmo, needed a bone marrow transplant to treat lymphoma. After Elmo passed away, Admiral Zumwalt and his wife created The Marrow Foundation to:
- Provide resources to make transplant possible for every patient who needs one
- Improve the length and quality of life for transplant recipients
