You are giving someone hope when you join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry.

Help us reach our goal of recruiting 46,000 members to the Registry during the Thanks Mom marrow donor drive. During Thanks Mom, May 5 - 19, you can join online for free, while funding remains.

When you join, you can also choose to make a financial contribution. It costs $52 to add a donor to the NMDP Registry. Your tax-deductible gift in any amount extends funding so more donors can join.

It's easy to join:

  Step 1. Confirm you meet basic donor guidelines.
  Step 2. Complete the online registration form and order your tissue-typing kit. This step will take about 30 minutes. Please remember funding is limited. To join for free, you must complete the online registration step before May 20 or while funding remains.
  Step 3. Use the kit to give a swab of cheek cells to test for your tissue type.


Step 1. Confirm you meet basic donor guidelines

Please check the boxes below to confirm you meet donor guidelines. You need to meet all the guidelines and check all the boxes to go on to the next step.
Age: I am between the ages of 18 and 60.
Health: I am in overall good health and meet medical guidelines.
Commitment: I am willing to donate to any patient in need and I understand the donation process — for more information, see Understanding Your Commitment.
I live in the United States or Puerto Rico: If you live outside the United States or Puerto Rico, please contact a donor center in the country where you live.
I am not in the U.S. military: If you are in the U.S. military, please contact the C.W. Bill Young Marrow Donor Center in Kensington, Md., to join the Registry.
I have not already joined: Whether you join the NMDP Registry online or in person, you are part of the same Registry. If you have previously given a blood sample or cheek cell sample to be tested for the Registry, you do not need to join again. If you're not sure whether you've already joined, answer a few short questions to confirm you are on the Registry.
