NASCAR Celebrity Cookbook Raises Money To Help Patients

NASCAR Celebrity CookboodNow NASCAR fans who love to cook -- or eat -- can help stem cell transplant patients. FAST FOOD: Fueling the Guys in the NASCAR Winston Cup Garage, features more than 120 full-color racing-themed photos and more than 150 recipes from the NASCAR community. Contributors include Mike Helton (president of NASCAR), Bill Weber (NBC/TNT commentator), Kim Labonte (wife of driver Terry Labonte), Katie Kenseth (wife of driver Matt Kenseth), Mary Evernham (wife of team owner Ray Evernham), and Linda Hendrick (wife of team owner Rick Hendrick). The cookbook, licensed by NASCAR, benefits The Hendrick Marrow Program and The Marrow Foundation®. All proceeds will be used to recruit potential volunteer donors to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry and to help patients with food and lodging costs incurred during stem cell transplant.

The Hendrick Marrow Program was founded by Rick Hendrick in partnership with The Marrow Foundation to help patients facing life-threatening diseases who can be treated with a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant. Rick Hendrick is chairman and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports, which boasts eight NASCAR championships and more than 100 NASCAR Winston Cup victories. After Hendrick was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in 1996, he created The Hendrick Marrow Program to reach out to other people facing similar diseases. The FAST FOOD cookbook is dedicated to patients who have a life-threatening blood disease and the families who support them.
