Applications Now AvailableFive Points of Life Ride 2006Do you have a compelling story about how donation has impacted your life? Would you like to see the country by bicycle? Applications for stories and riders are now being accepted for the sixth biannual Five Points of Life Ride, scheduled for the fall of 2006. The Five Points of Life event increases national awareness of the need for people to share life with others through organ and tissue donation. A team of cyclists with personal stories related to organ or tissue donation will share their stories as they pedal through communities across Canada and the United States. Past teams have included medical professionals, organ or tissue donors, recipients or close family members. The five points represent whole blood, apheresis, marrow, organ or tissue, and cord blood. Applications are due January 31, 2006; team members will be selected in February. For more information or applications, please call toll free, 1-877-5POINTS (576-4687). National Marrow Donor Program is a partner in this event, which is hosted by LifeSouth Community Blood Centers of Gainesville, Florida. The ride will begin in Ottawa, Canada, and end six weeks later in Miami, Florida. |
