Story Summary

Minneapolis -- December 1, 2008

The National Morrow Donor Program's (NMDP) Web site, www.marrow.org, was recognized by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends at the 12th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference earlier this month. The NMDP Web site was honored with the Gold Award in the Best Overall Internet Site and Best Site Design category. Additionally, the site received an Award of Distinction in the Best Healthcare Content category. The eHealthcare Leadership Awards recognize the top health care organization Web sites and highlights the Internet's role in achieving objectives.

"We designed our Web site to better engage the public, providing visitors with a comprehensive resource with solid content and an attractive, user-friendly design," said Barry Huff, vice president, marketing and communications at the NMDP. "We are honored to be recognized by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends for our efforts."

Some 235 health care organizations, representing a broad industry spectrum, received recognition for their outstanding Web sites. Sites receiving the 2008 eHealthcare Leadership Awards were selected from more than 1,100 entries. A total of 114 individuals familiar with health care and the Internet judged the entries in 12 different categories.

"A growing number of health care organizations are clearly embracing the Web and emerging technologies," said Mark Grothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman. "The 2008 awards program attracted entries from a diverse range of organizations."

Judges looked at how sites compared with others in their organization's classification. They also reviewed sites based on a proprietary multi-point standard of Internet excellence.
