Program Description

Learning Objectives

  1. Distinguish between low-, intermediate-, and high-resolution HLA DNA typing
  2. Describe issues in HLA typing that complicate finding an HLA-matched donor
  3. Describe the use of haplotypes in HLA matching and matching marrow donors to patients

Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians and other healthcare providers who treat patients with hematological malignancies in need of allogeneic transplantation.

Goal
The goal of this activity is to provide physicians and other healthcare providers with information on the new research that defines when transplantation should be considered, whether the outcomes are different between related and unrelated donors, the current state of HLA matching, and insight into the future of transplantation medicine.
