Program Description

Whether you treat patients with transplantable disorders or perform hematopoietic transplantation, this CME-certified program provides an efficient way to hear the latest review in allogeneic transplantation today. In this session, you will learn about research that compares outcomes of related and unrelated donor transplants to aid in your clinical decision making.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe factors that may result in lower survival from HLA–matched unrelated donor transplantation vs sibling donor
  2. Explain the effect of recipient cytogenetics on unrelated donor transplantation outcomes
  3. Discuss strategies to reduced graft-vs-host disease and the effect these have had on HLA-matched unrelated donor transplantations

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians and other healthcare providers who treat patients with hematological malignancies in need of allogeneic transplantation.

Goal

The goal of this activity is to provide physicians and other healthcare providers with information on the new research that defines when transplantation should be considered, whether the outcomes are different between related and unrelated donors, the current state of HLA matching, and insight into the future of transplantation medicine.
