Transplant Indications, Timing & Referral

Transplant indications

The use of hematopoietic cell transplantation (blood or marrow transplantation — BMT) has grown over the past decade to become a standard of care for some diseases as well as a newer treatment option for others.

Transplant timing

When transplant may be indicated, the likelihood of a successful transplant can be improved by taking steps to enable a transplant to be performed at the most beneficial time in the course of the patient's disease.

Transplant referral

An efficient patient referral process enables timely evaluation at a transplant center and efficient coordination of patient care before, during and after transplant.
