Protect federal funding

Be The Match relies on funds from two federal programs to grow the nation's ranks of volunteer marrow donors, as well as to increase the inventory of umbilical cord blood units, which contain the same blood-forming cells as marrow.

Due to recent mandatory budget cuts known as sequestration, the programs have been cut by approximately $3 million. This means that as many as 20,000 willing potential donors and 1,000 cord blood units may not be added to the national registry, unless funds are restored to the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and the National Cord Blood Inventory.

    Ensure patient access to transplant

We need Congress' help to ensure patients have continued access to life-saving transplant therapies—specifically, by mandating access to transplant in the networks of coverage created by the new health insurance marketplaces, and adequately reimbursing transplant therapies for Medicare patients.

Learn how the Affordable Care Act affects transplant patients and view the resources and education we provide network members trying to navigate health exchanges.

      Support state legislation

State legislative efforts are helping remove barriers to marrow donation and increasing access to public cord blood donation. Help support or initiate efforts in your state.
