UCSF is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation and is an active center for research and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Our adult program utilizes myeloablative and non-myeloablative approaches for patients with leukemia, myelodysplasia, lymphoma, myeloma and selected solid tumors. The adult program uses the following hematopoietic cell sources: matched related, matched unrelated, haploidentical related, and umbilical cord blood. Our pediatric program treats children with hematologic cancers, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, genetic diseases and immunodeficiency disorders, and specializes in haploidentical related donor transplants.

This center has been performing allogeneic transplants since 1982 and has been an NMDP/Be The Match transplant center since March 1991.
